Located on the edge of the Roaches, near the market town of Leek, Far House sleeps up to 12 guests and is ideal for families or larger groups. We offer luxury accommodation for a fantastic weekend break or a week-long stay, with stunning views of Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
Far House was originally a working farm. The house underwent a full renovation, which was completed in 2012. Tastefully decorated and modernized, while still retaining original period features throughout, this 5 bedroomed self-catering farmhouse has everything you need for a relaxing holiday or short break in the Peak District.
If outdoor life is what you’re searching for, there are countless walks and cycle routes that will suit every stride or pedal turn. Route options include rides out towards the flatlands of Cheshire, local routes around the Staffordshire Moorlands, or the more challenging terrain of the stunning Peak District National Park for more challenging terrain. The beautiful High Peak Trail is on our doorstep for a relaxed and picturesque ride.
Our proximity to the famous Roaches – a beautiful escarpment, which offers some of the best gritstone climbing in the country and breathtaking walks – makes Far House a popular base for visitors keen on rambling, climbing and bouldering.
The historic market town of Leek is a short drive away. Leek still retains its Wednesday and Saturday markets, along with its Fine Food Market on the third Saturday of each month. Within the town there is a host of independent shops and artisan traders, traditional pubs and eateries for you to discover.
The spa town of Buxton is a 15 minute drive over the stunning A53, Axe Edge. Buxton is famous for its warm springs and offers a host of fine eateries, interesting shops and gardens and a fascinating museum and art gallery. Visit Buxton Opera House which is a great venue for varied and often big name productions.
Bordering on the Peak District National Park you can enjoy varied day trips to attractions such as Chatsworth House, Rudyard Lake, Alton Towers and Peak District Wildlife Park. Local villages such as Hartington, Castleton, Ashbourne and Bakewell are less than 30 minutes drive away. Bakewell is the home of the famous pudding and has a large showground, which hosts many attractions over the year, including Farmers Markets, Agricultural Shows and Christmas Markets.
There are fantastic transport links to Leek from local train stations Macclesfield and Stoke which have direct routes to many major cities.
